Emil H. Krueger, age 92, of E. Kings Road and, most recently, of Milestone Senior Living, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, January 22, 2016 under the care of Ministry Hospice. Emil was born on July 20, 1923 in Merrill to Emil O. & Katherine (Theisen) Krueger. Emil attended Mortuary School at Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee in 1943. It was in Milwaukee where he married Mary Jane Stachowiak on September 15, 1945, just three short months after they met. After graduating Mortuary School, Emil returned to Merrill to work with his brother at the Krueger Funeral Home, founded by his father, Emil O. Krueger. In 1947 Emil & Jane moved to Tomahawk where they made their home, raised their family and founded the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home; currently Krueger Family Funeral Home. Emil was the ultimate caregiver; his mission in life was to serve people. Emil's example of loving kindness was a legacy that he taught to his children. He was the primary caregiver to his wife, Jane, especially in her later years. Professionally, he was a dignified, gentle man, who treated each family that he served with care and respect. Emil had a special knack for fixing anything that needed his creative touch. He was a man of deep faith and found great delight in his children and grandchildren. Emil served our country as a surgical technician for the US Army. He was a former member of Tomahawk Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, former member of the Tomahawk Lions Club, St. Mary's Ushers Ministry, the American Legion, Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, and Edgewater Men's Golf League. Emil was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Emil is survived by, 2 Sons, Jim Krueger of Tomahawk John (Kari) Krueger of Tomahawk 2 Daughters, Jan (Dick) Huseby of Tomahawk Julie Mielke of Tomahawk 1 Brother-in-law, Donald Stachowiak of Cudahy 1 Sister-in-law, Florence Konkel of Palmyra Emil is further survived by 14 grandchildren & 31 great grandchildren with the 32nd due in March. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife - Jane, one son - David, two sisters, Vernette Duginski and Karolyn Priebe, one brother - Norbert Krueger and two grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors will take place at 11:00AM on Monday, January 25, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. Jerry Harris will officiate. Visitation will take place at the Krueger Family Funeral Home on Sunday, January 24, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM with a vigil service at 7:00PM. The visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of Mass at 11:00AM. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to thank all who cared for Emil, especially the staffs at Riverview, Sacred Heart Hospital, Milestone Senior Living and Ministry Hospice.
