I was sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Her yard was the envy of the neighborhood--the landscaping was beautiful--even before landscaping was common! Thinking of you Dave,Kate, Peggy and Tom. Love, Sarah Lintereur Galloy

As a kid, I remember aunt Clara being full of energy and being very tall. Especially since my mom and aunt Martha and Rosie were short! She had a great laugh and always seemed so calm and wise. I was impressed that she ran the newspaper for awhile. Praying that your good memories of her will help you through the days and months ahead.

Aunt Clara was an inspiration to me because she always had something interesting to say. She would never waste her time or yours discussing television programs or celebrity gossip. She actively listened when you spoke to her and the interaction made you feel important to her.
I will always remember her amazing home and how comfortable she made you feel inside its walls. It was at her house that I first had cinnamon on my toast and I can't believe how many years I had missed out on this delicacy.
I remember her chastising my mother once because my mother had a difficult time relaxing. Aunt Clara said, "Where is it written that you have to work all of the time?" She was right of course and my mother would quote her once in awhile, usually when she was feeling guilty about not weeding her garden or defrosting her freezer.
Aunt Clara was a wonderful woman and I was always proud and will always be proud to be named after her - well sort of. I think my mother was afraid that if we had the exact same name that I would turn out the exact same way. I like to think we are close enough and I will miss this trailblazing and unapologetic person. I promise to do my best to make the Clara/Claire name something to envy and make the next generations wish they had an Aunt like us.
Love you always,
Claire

Our sympathies to all of you. We are saddened to hear of Clara's passing. When we lived in the neighborhood in Tomahawk, your parents were very welcoming and we enjoyed their friendship. May she rest in peace.
