Obituary of Clara Keenan

Clara G. Keenan, age 92, of Tomahawk, passed away on September 20, 2018 under the care of Ascension Home Hospice.

Clara was born on June 23, 1926 in Polley, WI to Frank & Mary Gryniewski. She went to school in Gilman School District. She went on to college at Superior Teacher’s College & UW Madison. She Taught in Tomahawk at the Washington School & substitute taught at Tomahawk Junior High & Tomahawk High School. She met Ken Keenan in Tomahawk and they were wed on July 12, 1952. Together they owned the Tomahawk Leader. Clara was publisher from March 1979 to March 1982 before selling to Larry & Kathy Tobin.

During her life, Clara was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden Club, Homemakers Club and a Girl Scout Leader. She was an avid gardener & baker extraordinaire. She loved furniture refurnishing, polkas & listening to Luciano Pavarotti.  Clara was a lifelong learner, an avid reader & loved to travel.

Clara is survived by her children – David Keenan, St. Paul, MN, Kathy “Kate” Rasmussen, Wausau, Peggy (Mike) Seiler, DePere, and Tom (Annette) Keenan, Burnsville, MN. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. Clara is preceded in death by her parents – Frank & Mary, husband – Ken & 5 siblings – Rosie, Martha, Edmund, Lucy & John.

The Funeral Service for Clara Keenan will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Deacon Dave Bablick will officiate. Visitation will take place in the church from 10:30AM until the time of service at 11:00AM. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
