Obituary of Leonard Kimmons

Leonard A. Kimmons, age 77, N11445 Cty. Hwy. A, Lot 13B, Tomahawk, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at his residence under home hospice care. Len was born June 1, 1933 in Merrill, the son of James and Eda (Thorsdahl) Kimmons. He entered the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17, and served in the Korean War. He married Harriet Rankin on July 17, 1954 in Irma. Len worked with Winston Brothers Construction until 1960. He and Harriet then owned and operated Rustic Air Bar in Rhinelander until 1966. He went back to Winston Brothers Construction, traveling with them until moving back home to Irma with his family and taking over the Rankin Farm for 8 years. In 1976, Len & Harriet purchased the Watergate Supper Club in Tomahawk, and with the help of their children, ran it for 24 years. He later worked for Hurd in Merrill for 8 years, retiring in 1998, when he & Harriet moved into the Clear Lake Condos. He was a member of Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. He enjoyed hunting, Muskie fishing, spending time with his family, and was an avid Nascar Fan. Survivors include: Wife Harriet Kimmons Tomahawk Daughters Connie (Mike) Gerber Wausau Jean Wilson Burnsville, Minnesota Jane (John) Antross Athens Daughter-in-law Pat Kimmons Wausau Brother s James (Marion) Kimmons Merrill Robert Kimmons Fond du Lac Sisters Dolly (Dale) Peterson Irma Shirley (Jim) Martin Bakersville, Ohio Leonard is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son - Twig, 1 daughter - Beverly, 2 brothers - Dale & Donny, 1 sister - Delores, and 1 son-in-law - Brad Wilson. Funeral Services for Leonard Kimmons will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 from Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Gass will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Krueger Family Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Rites will follow services at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Town of Rock Falls.
