Obituary of Lawrence Bishop

Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lawrence “Bish” Bishop, Jr, age 80, of Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly at home in Tomahawk on June 15, 2023. Bish was born on October 18, 1942 in Tomahawk to Lawrence, Sr & Agnes (Extrom) Bishop. He was married to Barbara Buchanan on September 8, 1963 in Menomonie, WI. Bish worked for Drott MFG & JI Case as a business executive for his entire career. Moving around a fair amount as a dedicated employee of the company most of his work life was spent in Wausau and Racine where he and Mom made great lifelong friends. Bish was an avid and very talented craftsman and built many pieces of furniture, and cabinetry, as well as milling most of the wood siding, trim, and other accents in the retirement home he designed, and built with his brother Tom. He was very passionate about history, and very proud of our family’s history and legacy in the Tomahawk area. Bish was passionate about the Tomahawk community, and got a lot of joy in meeting people as he’d go out to lunches and dinners at the various great restaurants in the area. He always looked forward to his weekly Coffee Clutch with lifelong best friend, Jake Schoone, and their other friends. He loved spending time in the woods and outdoors, riding his Harleys, and enjoying his car collection. Not a fan of winter he and Barb found comfort in the desert during the winter, spending those months in La Quinta, CA. Above all else, he adored, and was incredibly proud of, his grandchildren, creating a lifetime of wonderful memories with them as they were growing up, and into their adulthood. Besides his parents, Agnes & Lawrence ‘Iggy’ Bishop, Bish was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara, in 2016. He is survived by his son – Peter Bishop of Tomahawk; his siblings – Cheryl (Walt) Hobbs, Marjorie (Rick) Nieman, Tom (Lynn) Bishop and Kent (Mary) Bishop. He is further survived by two grandchildren – Nicole, Sauk City, WI & Sam, Waunakee, WI The Memorial Mass for Lawrence “Bish” Bishop will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church.
