Raymond G. Payne, Jr., 81, a longtime Nokomis area resident, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. Ray was born May 25, 1942 in Neillsville, Wisconsin to Raymond and Grace (Vanderhoff) Payne, Sr. Together with Jean Payne, Ray had two children – Al & Cindy. He was later married to Bernadine Pearl Bordzinski on November 29, 1974 in Chicago. Bernie passed away in 2018. Ray was a retired auto mechanic owning Ray’s Auto in Nokomis for 23 years. He was a member of the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years providing unmatched maintenance on vehicles. He loved cars, car shows, his beloved El Camino, and snowmobiling. Ray also enjoyed his pets, dogs and cats alike. Surviving Ray Payne is a son, Al (Lisa) Payne of Loyal, Wisconsin; daughter, Cindy (Joe) Wilson of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; and his significant other, Elie Payne. He is further survived by a sister, Helen Manthe of Florida, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bernie. A Celebration of Ray Payne’s life will be held on Monday, June 19th, at 1:00 p.m. from the Krueger Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. Memorials are appreciated to the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department.
