Joanne K. Rupel, 64, of Merrill, formerly of Tomahawk passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following a lengthy illness. Joanne was born May 15, 1958 in Madison to Donald and Dorothy Joan (Nelson) Knudson. She was married to Bill Rupel on June 3, 1995 in Middleton, Wisconsin. Joanne lived much of her life in Middleton and Tomahawk. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, and loved spending time at Crystal Lake. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving Joanne is her husband, Bill of Merrill; three children, Kathy Anderson, Monona, WI; Susan (Bob) Graves, LaCrosse; and John Rupel, Monona, WI. Three Sisters, Donna (Duane) Fuller, Arkdale; Martha (Rick) Heintzleman, New Mexico; and Kristine (Matt) Podgorsak, New York. Joanne is further survived by five grandchildren, Laila, Mya, Cici, Abbygail, and Colton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Knudson. The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Joanne. The date and time will be announced. Krueger Family Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
