Obituary of Bob Steinbach

Please share a memory of Bob to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Edward “Bob” Steinbach of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, passed away on January 31, 2023 at his home, with family by his side. Bob was born in Waukegan, Illinois to Emil and Mary (LaMartin) Steinbach on January 26, 1956. He had just celebrated his 67th birthday. In his early years, Bob worked at King’s Dam in Tomahawk and Hardee’s, in Minocqua. Bob also worked at the cranberry marsh in Tomahawk, where he worked with his brother, Eugene. Bob and Eugene enjoyed being co-workers so much that they also worked together at Hetzel’s Plumbing. In later years, he was an over the road truck driver for ITC and Pat Walker Trucking. Bob had a love for travel and seeing new places, which driving truck allowed him to do, visiting nearly all 50 states. His most well known “job” was as a wheeler and dealer. He had a gift of gab, and he was always on the hunt for the next great deal. He could BS with the best of them, and often leave those that listened, laughing and shaking their heads. Throughout his life, he had a love of dogs and hunting. He spent many nights in the woods with his hounds. Dogs were a constant in his life, but he often had other critters, as well. One extra special title that he held was that of Uncle Bob. He was Uncle Bob to his 7 nieces and nephews, and his 8 great nieces and nephews, as well as many other kids throughout the years. Uncle Bob’s house and time with him was unlike any other, and filled with its own adventures and entertainment. Uncle Bob was always happy to have his great nieces and nephews around, and never hesitated to crawl on the floor with them. He especially enjoyed it when he taught them to say his name. Bob’s house was often a hub of visitors. It was a meeting place, a place filled with stories, friendship, and love. Family and friends were often found at Bob’s, and he relished the company. He was, without a doubt, one of a kind, and will be missed greatly. Bob is survived by his sisters – Jane (Wally) Callahan and Donna (Bill) Herron; sister-in-law – Tracy Steinbach; nieces and nephews- Stacy (Matt) McCoy, Niki (Andy) Schiltz, Marcus (Ashley) Callahan, Chad (Katlin Cogar) Steinbach, Kyle (Ashley Beining) Steinbach, and Nicholas Herron; great nieces and nephews Autumn, Hayden, Addi, Cullen, Killian, Mason, Layla, and Cormac. He is preceded in death by his parents- Emil and Mary, brothers – Tom & Eugene Steinbach, and niece- Jamie Dennison. The Memorial Service for Bob Steinbach will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Krueger Family Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Mathein will officiate.
