Obituary of Gloria J Nelson

Gloria Nelson, age 82, of Tomahawk, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Aspirus Sacred Heart Hospital. Gloria was born on August 9, 1940 in Washburn, Wisconsin to John and Alice (Daley) Niemisto. She was united in marriage to Wilbert G. Nelson on June 6, 1964, also in Washburn. Wilbert and Gloria moved to Tomahawk shortly after they were married. She was employed by the School District of Tomahawk as an elementary teacher for nearly 40 years. In her spare time Gloria enjoyed gardening, flowers, knitting, crocheting, and visiting with family. Gloria is survived by her husband – Wilbert Nelson of Tomahawk; son – Mike Nelson of Los Angeles, California; a brother - Norman Niemisto; and Norman’s children Tami Niemisto and Robbie Niemisto. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents and a brother - John D. Niemisto. She is further survived by her brother John’s wife – Barbara; son – John P. Niemisto; daughter-in-law – Debbie; and John and Debbie’s children – Noah and Erin. She is also survived by a cousin – Patricia (Elroy) Nelson, Patricia’s daughter – Susan McNerney, and son-in-law – Patrick McNerney. The Funeral Service for Gloria Nelson will take place at 12:00PM on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Sinkula will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00AM until the time of service at noon. Burial will follow at Spirit Hillcrest Cemetery.
