Kenneth Laaksonen, age 70, of Merrill, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022 at his home under hospice care with Char & Alyssa by his side. Ken was born on May 2, 1952 in Tomahawk to Arvid & Elise (Drew) Laaksonen. Ken married Lori Hakala on August 28, 1982 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Prentice. Together they had a daughter – Alyssa. Lori passed away in 2013. Ken was a logger in the Brantwood area for many years with Gustafson Logging. In 2014, Ken was lucky enough to find Char Jerzak to spend his time with. He then started working as a security guard at CAT in Prentice for 2 years. For the past 5 years, Ken worked with Cottage Gardens in Home Depot and absolutely loved his job there. He loved gardening, being outdoors and traveling to Door County. Ken is survived by his daughter – Alyssa (Darrin) Evans of Little Suamico, and their children – Jase & McKenzie; and his significant other – Char Jerzak of Merrill. He is further survived by his brother – Dennis (Susie) Laaksonen of Hazelhurst; and Char’s children – Melissa (Jason) Anderson, Tom (Summer) Zientek), Rob (Becky) Zientek Matt (Amy) Zientek and Trista (Cody) Klatt. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife – Lori, and half-siblings – Larry Peil & Shirley Drew. The Funeral Service for Ken Laaksonen will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Krueger Family Funeral Home. Rev. Patricia Schutz will officiate. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, July 7 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM. Burial will take place in the Somo Cemetery in Tripoli. Krueger Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
