Obituary of Rosalie M Placek

Rosalie Marie (Arnold) Placek, 75 years of age, 253 Theiler Drive, Tomahawk, gently went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 3, 2022, while surrounded by her loving family. Rosalie was born June 4, 1946, in Arcola, Indiana, to Raymond and Bernadine (Wilhelm) Arnold. She was united in marriage to Robert Placek on October 26, 1968, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Arcola. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she lived until 1981. She then moved to Lisle, Illinois. She also lived in South Bend, Indiana, and Oswego, Illinois, until retiring to the Tomahawk area in 2017. Rosalie fought heroically with multiple sclerosis for almost 50 years, never complaining and always smiling. She loved the Christmas season and snow. She had an extremely strong faith and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She often told her children to “keep Jesus in your pocket,” attended daily Mass whenever possible, and prayed her Rosary every day. Surviving Rosalie is her husband, Robert; four children, Stephani Placek, Tomahawk; Kelli (Jon) Homan, Tomahawk; Nick (Christine) Placek, Kenosha; and Robyn (Victor) Krueger, Tomahawk. Four grandchildren, Samantha Homan, Henry Placek, and Cameron and Connor Sherrill. She is further survived by eight siblings, Nelda (Roland) Starszak, Nolan (Gloria) Arnold, Nelson (Barb) Arnold, Stan (Tencha) Arnold, Margaret (“Jeannie”) (Eugene) Freiburger, Greg Arnold, Kevin (Terry) Arnold, and Duane (Rita) Arnold; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lorenza, and a brother, Alan. Mass of Christian Burial for Rosalie Placek will take place on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 12:00PM from St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Joseph Anil will officiate. The family will receive friends at church Wednesday from 11:00AM until the time of Mass at 12:00PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
