To the Ungerer family, our condolences. Your Husband/Dad was the Mr, Hockey of Tomahawk! Not a pair of skates he couldn't sharpen. No snowfall or temp. was going to cancel practice. We may of had outdoor ice but it was always ready to go, come game time! You have a lot to be proud of and we are truly thankful to have skated on his work.

I grew up with so many fond memories of Arthur. He was my father’s (Dick Johnson—or Nick to his Tomahawk pals) best friend. They went to High School together and served alongside one another in the US Navy. Of the many summers we spent vacationing in Tomahawk, Art speaking of when he met Elaine in Long Beach stands out as a favorite. How would he haul a California girl back to WI? How could she deal with the snow? The bitter cold?? My dad recalled telling him not to ‘sweat the details’ and just move forward. A very funny story, especially when Elaine adds her side.
The Ungerers are a blessed family and I know how much you will all miss your strong and tall North Star. I surely will. God bless and I’m sure that Art’s best buddy was there waiting in heaven with a bellowing, ‘Hello Arthur’ and a hug.
With love, Shannon Johnson Bortolotto
