Obituary of Dick T Thompson

Dick T. Thompson, 68, a longtime Tomahawk resident passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Wausau.

Dick was born on January 12, 1951 to Maurice “Tommy” & Dolores “Dee” (Barr) Thompson in Tomahawk. He was married to Nancy Johnson on September 2, 1972 in Tomahawk. Together, they have two children. Dick was a pipefitter at the Tomahawk Mill for many years. He retired from the mill in 2013. During his early years, Dick enjoyed riding dirt bikes and eventually he “graduated” to riding a Harley. He loved life and lived it to the fullest – traveling, hiking, hunting and being adventurous. Dick loved playing pickleball and attending sporting events. His family was extremely important to him, especially his time spent with his grandkids. Dick loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor.

Dick is survived by his wife – Nancy Thompson of Wausau; two children – Jeremy (Sara) Thompson of Maple Grove, MN & Jill (Carl) Chang of Edina, MN; four grandchildren – Paige & Morgan Thompson and Kinsley & Thomas Chang. He is further survived by 3 brothers – Dave (Joan) Thompson, Donn (Deb) Thompson & Dennis (Sue) Thompson; 1 sister – Renee (Tim) Krogman; and Nancy’s family – Ralph (Kathy) Johnson, Mary (Ken) Bernarde, Mark (Liz) Johnson, Larry (Monelle) Johnson, Sally (Tim) Peeters, Vicky (Ken) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Service with Military Honors for Dick Thompson will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00AM from St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Stephen Gillet will officiate. The family will receive friends at St. Paul Church on Saturday morning from 10:00AM until the time of services at 11:00AM.
