My wife and I became Russ and Delores's neighbors on Squaw Lake about 6 years ago. The first time I met Russ, I was working in the yard and he was making his way though the woods to introduce himself. I liked Russ within minutes of meeting him. A soft spoken man, with a quiet confidence and a quick smile. He mentioned that he was legally blind and that all he could really see was my silhouette. We talked about numerous subjects such as family, friends and the lake. He was very proud of his family and mentioned how he wished he could do more, showing concern for Delores's added responsibilities because of his vision. It did not take long to realize that he was a very knowledgeable man that liked to do things himself. After meeting with Russ, I always left wishing I could be more like him. I am not positive about many things these days, but I am about this. God is leaving the light on for Russ.

Russ was a very kind and considerate man and a special friend of mine. I will always remember the good times we had in the valley fishing in the bay. Prayers for the family.

Russ was my Father-in-Law and guide in life. He had a heart of gold and was always there for you. I have many fond memories of fishing together, floating down the Wisconsin River, many days deer hunting or just wandering the woods and picking berries. Family Thanksgivings were always the best. Russ has my everlasting love and respect.

Russell was really nice and a favorite uncle. The fishing stories he could tell! He and Delores even traveled to Alaska to go fishing with us. We will miss him terribly.
