Obituary of Gordon R. Obey

Gordon R. Obey, 89, of Spring Creek Drive, Tomahawk, passed away December 22, 2017 at Belin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay.

He was born on October 14, 1928 in Tomahawk to William and Julia (Wesley) Obey. He was an adventurer, even in his younger days.  When he was eleven years old his family relocated from Rhinelander to Minnesota for a job opportunity his dog Lucky went missing. Gordy hitchhiked back to Rhinelander and back to Minnesota with Lucky. He also had worked In North Dakota and it was there he sent for his bride to be, Lola Butterfield. They soon eloped to Devils Lake, North Dakota. He then took his family to the territory of Alaska and worked for the highway commission until Alaska became a state and moved back to Wisconsin.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved all animals and had many dogs and a cat, Bootsie. He was a man of many talents, his knowledge will be missed by all who knew him.

Grandchildren, Nicole (Tony) Jensen, Wyatt (Chelsi Weber) Obey. Great Grandchildren, Gracie Jensen, Bristol Jensen, Jack Jensen, and Owen Obey. Gordy was preceded in death by his son, Robert.

A Celebration of Gordon Obeys life will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home in Green Bay at 6:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 until 6 p.m. Krueger Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
