Obituary of Ruth G. Lund

Ruth G. Lund, age 87, of Tomahawk, passed away on October 31, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Ruth was born to Emil G. & Esther (Manske) Lemke on July 26, 1930 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She was baptized on August 17, 1930 by Pastor Pieper in her Grandmother’s home.

Her family moved to Forest Park, IL when she was very young. She attended St. John’s Elementary Parochial school. She was confirmed on April 2, 1944. She attended three years of high school at Luther Institute. The family moved to Tomahawk in 1947 where she graduated from Tomahawk High School.  Ruth was employed by Dr. Henderson Clinic, Family Clinic & Treehaven. She married Harry J. Lund on March 31, 1951 whom she met while working for Dr. Henderson.

Ruth was a volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital, the Tomahawk Medical Center, Historical Society and Tomahawk Volunteers. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, servicing as President of Ladies Guild, choir member and choir director. She was also a member of the Tomahawk Women’s Civic Club having served as recording secretary, First Vice President and President for four years. She was also State Health Chairman for two years and District Recording Secretary.

She enjoyed knitting and various hand work, was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She belonged to two bridge clubs and a duplicate bridge club. She loved spending time with her family and the Green Bay Packers.

Ruth is survived by four sons – Thomas (Julie) Lund & Andy Lund, both of Tomahawk, James Lund, Florida and William (Dawn) Lund, Fond du Lac; two daughters – Mary (Mark) Orley, Townsend & Joan (Gary) Hilgendorf, Tomahawk. She if further survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren with one on the way, her brother – David (Marian) Lemke and two sisters-in-law – Caroline & Patricia Lemke, all of Tomahawk. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her parents, three brothers – Glenn, Marvin & Ervin Lemke, one great granddaughter, Kelsey & one great grandson, Dylan.

The Funeral Service for Ruth Lund will take place at 12:00Noon on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Tomahawk. Pastor Mark Gass will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00AM until the time of service at 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
