Donna Maki, age 83, of Brantwood, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Wausau Manor.

Donna was born to Rudolph and Verona Ehmke. She grew up in the Phillips area but spent most of her life in Brantwood, where she lived in the same house since her marriage to Edwin Maki in 1951. Together with her husband, they raised seven children while operating a dairy farm until his death in 1991. Donna became involved in the local Girl Scout organization when one of her daughters wanted to join. She eventually became the manager of the Wausau based Birch Trails Girl Scout Council. Donna also worked as a home health care provider. She would take elderly people to various appointments, deliver meals to those who needed them, and often times became a friendly face that folks looked forward to visiting with. Various activities at Trinity Lutheran Church also benefitted from Donna’s participation. She was active helping with the Prentice Food Pantry and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, where she served as treasurer. Donna would find time in her busy schedule to play cards with the residents at Briarwood Terrace in Prentice and would look forward to family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Donna is survived by 2 daughters – Barb (Steve) Johnson, Brown Deer & Karen (Dave) Foytik, Phillips; 4 sons – Richard (Chris) Maki, Prior Lake, MN, Bruce (Donna) Maki, Prentice, H. Brian (Betty) Maki, Wausau & Mark (Patty) Maki, Wausau; and son-in-law - Oskar Maki, Marshfield.
