Obituary of Gordon J Kaatz

Gordy Kaatz, age 92, of Wisconsin Rapids, originally from the Harrison area, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice Home in Wausau.

Gordy was born on December 14, 1924 to William & Nell Kaatz and grew up in the town of Harrison. He was married on May 12, 1947 to Catherine “Katy” Walkowski. He worked in a shipyard in Lake Superior for a short time and eventually started with  AO Smith Corporation in Milwaukee. He was with AO Smith for 43 years until he retired to Wisconsin Rapids 23 years ago.

Gordy is survived by his daughter – Linda Colon, of Milwaukee; 2 Grandchildren – Eric Colon, of Wisconsin Rapids & Ana Colon, of Marshfield. He is further survived by 5 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, a brother, Chester Kaatz, and half brothers and sister, Peter and Lawrence Voermans, and Ann Cox.

Graveside services for Gordy Kaatz will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at  the St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery, Harrison.  Deacon Dan Towle will officiate.
