My deepest sympathies to the DuPlayee family, you are in my thoughts and prayers It was a little over 21 years ago that I received a phone call from Chief DuPlayee saying "Scotty, if you want it you got it!" I remember that call like I received it yesterday. Chief DuPlayee hired me with no law enforcement expierence at the young age of 22.
I was able to go out to his land a couple of years back as he was working on his mower lifted up on these pullies which looked more like a science project to show how to lift something heavy with only a rope. I was able to thank Chief DuPlayee for hiring me and providing me my first law enforcement job and a great place to work. I know he helped shape me to become the person and law enforcement officer I am today. Dynamic personality on the outside but his heart came from a teddy bear.

My sympathy to the family of Jack DuPlayee. It was 39 years ago that a young wet behind the ears kid from Kenosha walked
into his office and he hired me as a police officer. It was a scary and intimidating experience and there would be many more similar walks into his office, but I have to think for whatever reason he believed in me which allowed me to serve with the Tomahawk Police Department for 30 years which I have sincerely cherished. Thanks to my family and friends that have become part of this path but most of all thank you Chief DuPlayee for believing in me and the memories.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the DuPlayee family. Although we only knew Jack for a couple of years, we know what a good Catholic man he was and very much enjoyed our prayer time together and will miss the laughs and good times we had playing cards while visiting our pilgrim friends the Eggets. Eternal rest grant onto him Oh Lord! May he rest in peace.

I would like to extend my condolences to the DuPlayee family and the Tomahawk Police Department Family. Proudly, I was one of the summer officers in 1991, mentioned in the obituary. I am now the Chief of Police at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I remember my days fondly in Tomahawk as the "start" of my career and remember Chief DuPlayee well. My thoughts and prayers to all of you as you mourn his loss.

Jack was a huge part of my family's lives, being our next door neighbor for all of my growing up years, and since my dad was also a cop. I remember Jack as being a tough (and scary) big man when I was little, but I got over it quickly when I realized how great of a dad he was, both with his own kids, and all of us kids in the neighborhood. My fondest memory of him is the go kart he made and getting to ride in it. Seems he was always working on that thing. I also loved the way he kept the sandbox filled with clean sand, despite our best efforts to redistribute it. I spent many long hours playing in the pine trees in the back yard, or making a haunted house in the basement with his oldest kids, Mike and Bill. He had a very big influence on me, and I will always treasure my memories of him.
