Edith M. Wanie, age 98, a longtime Tomahawk area resident, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 in Onalaska, Wisconsin. Edith was born May 15, 1918 in Tomahawk to William and Marie (Martell) Steinbach. She was a 1936 graduate of Tomahawk High School. Edith was married to LeRoy R. Wanie, he passed away in 1957. She had been employed for many years at Hanke’s Supermarket. For the past 20 years she had lived in the West Salem area. Edith is survived by her son, John Wanie of LaCrosse, 5 Grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, LeRoy, and 4 children, Norman “Tiny”, LeRoy, Mike, and Karen Wanie. Funeral Services for Edith Wanie will be held Friday, April 21, 1017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Krueger Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
