Obituary of Judy K. Haxton

Judy K. Haxton, age 70, formerly of Tomahawk, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff with both of her daughters holding her hands. Judy was born on April 26, 1946 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Raymond and Doris (Reiter) Olson. She married James A. Haxton on May 13, 1966 in Merrill at St. John’s Church. Judy had been a beautician in Merrill in her younger years. She and Jim had formerly owned and operated the Junction Restaurant in Tomahawk and later the Hallmark Shop in downtown Tomahawk. She had also worked at the Windmill Ice Cream Shop and her last job was at the Fun Factory in Rhinelander. Judy loved to be around people and she had the power of mind and heart to always find the good in everyone. Judy always had a special place in her heart for animals of all kinds. She enjoyed music and especially playing the piano; she taught many in her family how to play. Judy was an avid Packer Fan. She also loved cooking for family gatherings. She spread joy and love everywhere she went. Meme’s four grandchildren were the love of her life. Survivors include her husband, Jim of Rhinelander; Daughters – Heather (Bill) Smith & Holly (John) Teal, both of Tomahawk; and 4 Grandchildren – Mandy & Samantha Smith, Justin & Jacey Teal. She is further survived by her siblings – Kerry (Richard) Prosser, East Troy, James (Molly) Olson, Oshkosh, Steven (Laurie) Olson, Merrill, Gregory (Mary) Olson, Hot Springs, Arkansas & Kenneth Olson, Merrill and her beloved dog Cocoa Bean. A Memorial Service for Judy Haxton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark U. Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Seasons of Life Hospice or the Humane Society. Judy lived her life by following the Golden Rule and encouraged everyone around her to do the same. She had a passion for the mystical magic of dragonflies and believed in their meaning and their spiritual connections. The Krueger Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
