Obituary of Alice F Bohnert

Alice Florence (Phillips) Bohnert passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Monday,  December 3, 2018.

Alice was born on June 13, 1943 in Wausau, WI to the late John and Florence (Maldonis) Phillips. She moved to Tomahawk, WI in 1961 and graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1962. Alice married her high school sweetheart, Paul (Jerry/Bones) Bohnert June 2, 1962, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk, WI. She was a stay-at-home mom until her girls were in school. She cleaned offices and homes, she worked at DeHart’s Mink Ranch and also at Best Western Lake Aire.

Alice & Jerry did a lot of camping in their younger years with their kids as well as hiking and biking. They were also involved with a snowmobile club in Wausau. Alice was on a bowling league as well as a horseshoe league. When Jerry retired in 2005 they became snowbirds and traveled to different states in their motorhome. Alice’s favorite place to spend the winters was Mexico Beach, Florida. Her favorite annual Fall activity was traveling to Nashville for some fun adventures with her daughters. In 2016, on one of these annual trips, she crossed off a bucket list item by going zip lining.

Alice was a secretary and Greeter of Cheer for the Northwoods Scarlett O’Hatters (Red Hats). She was also involved in quilting at Grace Lutheran Church. She loved going to Joyful Noise, going to Bunco and Bingo, doing genealogy, jigsaw puzzles and playing games on her iPad. Alice was an avid reader. It was not uncommon for her to read a couple books a week. She loved being with her family and grandkids. She also loved spending time on her front porch swing with a glass of wine.

Alice is survived by her husband, Paul ”Jerry”or”Bones” Bohnert, her daughters Kimberley Bohnert, Tomahawk, WI, Linda Hodge, Nashville, TN, Diana (Brian) Genelin, Arcadia, WI, and Lisa (Dan) Mackin, Nashville, TN.

She is further survived by 12 Grandchildren;  Erica (Kyle) Kerfeld, Natasha Hodge, Paul (PJ) DuPlayee, Dustyn DuPlayee, Alysha Hodge, Dylan Ellison, Stephen (Megan) Mackin, Stacy Hodge, Alonzo Genelin, Brittany Hodge, Tyler Mackin & Xavier Genelin and 2 great grandchildren; Monica and Noah.

A Brother – Jamie (Lynn) Phillips and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Logan Ellison and her sister, Salli Howe.

The Memorial Service for Alice Bohnert will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends at Grace Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m. Krueger Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
