Obituary of Agnes B. Iwen

Agnes Iwen, age 91, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Riverview Nursing Home under the care of Ascension Home Hospice.

Aggie was born on December 4, 1926 in Tomahawk to Roman and Emma (Marcouiller) Kowerski. She was married to Dale A. Iwen on December 28, 1946 in Tomahawk. Dale passed away in 1998. Aggie spent the early years of her marriage raising her children. She later was a cook at St. Mary Catholic School for 20 years. Aggie loved to travel around the United States, especially in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. She enjoyed playing cards, casinos, baking bread, gardening, and feeding the animals in her neighborhood.

Aggie is survived by her children – Robert Iwen, of Trego, Montana, Tom (Kim) Iwen, Lois (Ed) Willfahrt, Kathy (Randy Johnson) Echterling, and Julie Iwen, all of Tomahawk. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren (Kacey, Trevor, Amanda (Steve), Bethany, Joshua, Jason, Kim (Chris), and Kelly (Eric)), 9 great grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Frenchie.

Aggie is preceded in death by her parents, husband – Dale and daughter – Rose Marie, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes Iwen will take place at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Kevin Farrell will officiate. Visitation will take place at church from 11:00AM until the time of Mass at 1:00PM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
