Obituary of Forest P. Faufau

Forest “Forrie” Paul Faufau, 88, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, formerly of Tomahawk, departed our world on February 28, 2018.

Forrie was born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin to Gladys and Robert Faufau on August 26, 1929. He attended school in Tomahawk before enlisting in the Navy as part of a naval air squadron spending his time on several aircraft carriers. Forrie married Catherine Hickey on October 1, 1949 in Tomahawk. They had six children, five boys and a girl.

Forrie was employed by Wisconsin Public Service for 35 years. He started his career as a Groundsman working in Tomahawk. He progressed to Line Forman by 1969 and moved to Green Bay as Electric Supervisor in 1980. He was named Electric Supervisor in Two Rivers/Manitowoc in 1983, was promoted to District Manager in 1987 and retired in Minocqua in 1992.

Forrie was very active in community programs in every location he lived.  He served on the Lincoln County Developmental Disability Services Board and as the Chairman of the Committee responsible for the construction of the Tomahawk Developmental Disability Center.  He was on the Minocqua Planning Commission and on the board of the Lakeland Area Development Corporation.  Forrie served on the Education for Employment Committee at Lakeland Union High School and served on the advisory board for the Lakeland Community Senior Center. He was a member of the Brown County Sportsman Club, Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, NRA, Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild, Saint Bernard’s Church and the Association for Retarded Citizens.

Following retirement, Forrie and his wife, weighed anchor in his 42 foot trawler/yacht from Marinette, Wisconsin through the Great Lakes, down the Hudson River into the Atlantic, eventually getting to the Bahamas. They made their home port in Florida while cruising for ten years.  Summers were spent in Wisconsin. Forrie also enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting trap and skeet, snowmobiling, cross county motorcycling, wood working, gardening, and photography. Along with his brother, he owned and operated a clay target club in the Tomahawk area.

Forrie is survived by Catherine, his wife of 68 years and their four children; Robert (Betty) Faufau of Spirit, WI; Kathleen (Dan) Kaul of Livingston, Montana; James (Michelle) Faufau of Big Canoe, Georgia; and John (Lola) Faufau of Little Falls, Minnesota.  He is further survived by ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by sons, Michael and Jeffrey Faufau, parents, Gladys and Robert Faufau, brother, Bruce, and sisters, Judith and Mary Lou.

Mass of Christian Burial for Forrie Faufau will be held on Saturday, March 10^th at 12:00 p.m. from St. Mary Catholic Church, Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at noon. Krueger Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
