Obituary of James M Ward
James M. Ward, age 79, of Hidden Waters Road, Tomahawk, passed away at his home on January 1, 2018 under the care of Aspirus Hospice.
Jim was born on July 27, 1938 in Chicago Heights, IL. He was married to Patricia (Martin) Ward on June, 3, 1967. Jim attended the University of Iowa to play baseball. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 38 years in Chicago Heights. For many years, Jim and his family have vacationed on Lake Nokomis. Jim and Patti spent their honeymoon at the family cottage. 20 years ago, after Jim’s retirement, Jim and Patti made Lake Nokomis their home. Jim was very involved in Kinship. He and Patti were mentors for over 10 years. He raised money for the Kinship program by jumping in their Polar Plunge until he was 70 years old. Jim was a true Chicago fan, religiously cheering on the Cubs and the Bears. He was also a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Jim loved baseball, fishing and spending time with his family at get togethers. Jim was a very dedicated Dad and Pawpaw and never missed an event of his kids or grandkids. He was a faithful member of United Methodist Church, Tomahawk.
Jim is survived by his wife, Patti, of Tomahawk; daughter, Sunny Bengtson, Huntley, IL; son, James “Marty” (Theresa) Ward, Joliet, IL; and his mother, Jane Wright, of Tomahawk. He is further survived by 3 grandchildren, Hunter, Jenna & Dylan. Jim is preceded in death by his dad, Ed Wright.
The Memorial Service with Military Honors for Jim Ward will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, Tomahawk. Pastor InSun Lee will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00AM until the service at 11:00AM.
Memorials are appreciated to Kinship of Tomahawk, Lincoln County Humane Society or Oneida County Humane Society.
